The Procussions call it quits, new music from F.O.E., SP Double

Well, it's official. The Procussions are no more. Mr. J made two announcements today about the breakup on MySpace:

with everything we could say about the industry, the point is, piracy will destroy an independent's career.

we want to thank everyone who actually invested in this group and helped it too its last breath! we owe you so much! thats why Stro and I will do our best to carry on our solo careers and work together when possible.

but.

theprocussions have been inevitably shipwrecked, blows taken in the lower deck from the most fierce of all pirates.

love you guys and gals!
And also:
cant do it anymore yall, the procussions have officially been destroyed by the system, the industry, and those kids that just dont understand you "can't burn independent albums, you will kill their career".

anyway....

Stro is working on his solo album! dope! and....

i got another album thats DONE! finished! produced by stro! co-produced by myself and Benny Cassette, along with guest vocalist Tara Ellis.

but honest...the label game aint going so well right now, trying to get people (labels) to push honest music and creative production is near impossible. specially in the hiphop game.

i dont get it it really. its like all the people who dont really even understand, love, or even like "song writing" are making all the decisions around here.

music lovers should run the music game and thats it.

this album im talking about is called "Last Stars" and i honestly think its my and stro's best work to date...but, eh...lets just hope it can get out there to the public.

the whole game can be really saddening.

ill just use this as fuel for more songs maybe...either way..stay tunesd!

if i have to do this all by myself, from top to bottom, i will.
Of course it's a disappointing announcement because personally I'm a fan of the group. But what is also encouraging is that both Mr. J and Stro will continue to make music.

In the meantime here are two songs that make me feel some Colorado pride:

Urban Showcase update, new tunes from Hypnautic, D.O.

What up hip-hop heads! Sorry for the lack of updates, but I was traveling last week covering CES in Las Vegas for SiTV.com. Then this week, I'll be on tour with EMC (Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Punchline, and Strick), road managing their west coast trek, so maybe I'll do a bonus update this week.

Anyway, I talked to Legit this week about the ReverbNation New Blood Urban Showcase. He let me know that ReverbNation pretty much canceled and pulled out of the whole thing on a nationwide basis. But Legit is trudging on without Reverb since so many people came out and auditioned. He has a relationship with the A&R man at Asylum/Warner Bros. Records and is flying him out for a Colorado Hip-Hop Showcase at The Roxy on January 31. Legit and his people already selected 20 artists of the people who auditioned to represent the local scene at the showcase. For those of you who registered at ReverbNation to participate in location, are pretty much out of luck. But Legit did say he was going to bring in more record execs from Bad Boy Records and Universal Records to hold more local showcases this year. I'll keep you updated as I find out.

In the meantime, you're probably wondering who Legit and his people chose for the showcase? Here's the list where Legit himself said "is the best to rep Colorado hip-hop." I tried to find the MySpace pages for everybody, but was unsuccessful, if your name isn't linked, just leave your MySpace page in the comments

New music from Whygee, Babah Fly, want a verse from Masta Ace, Wordsworth?

9:42 AM / Posted by Q / comments (3)

Happy new year everyone! I hope all of ya'll achieve your goals and release some successful projects in 2008.

I'm glad everyone appreciated my favorite top 20 songs, as some of you saw, Westword also liked my list and put it on their website last week. Check out the comments and leave comments and let Westword know we have a pretty active scene here in Colorado.

As some of you know, Wordsworth is a personal friend of mine and he's now in a supergroup called EMC with Masta Ace, Punchline and Strick. They'll be coming to Colorado January 19 and 20 for shows in Boulder and Denver. Words asked me if any cats out here wanted a verse or two from him, Ace, Punch or Strick... well do ya'll? All four of them are willing to take time, head to your studio and spit a verse for your next project, if the price is right, while they are here. If you're interested, contact Lamonte at lamonte@nextmillent.com or Wordsworth at his MySpace page with the subject title "Denver artist interested in a verse".

Anyway, here's some new music:

Scott Free - Whygee

Workbench - Babah Fly
